I am a complete beginner, and have never read or studied chinese before. I would like to learn chinese(manda rin) for a year, in order to prepare myself for the course that I would like to study at university: French and Chinese. I would like to gain a basic understanding of the language and be able to converse even at a a low level. I would like to dedicate approximately 4 hours a week to lessons. The teacher should be easily understood in english, an able educator, experience in chinese and be willing to work with someone who has very little knowledge of the language. Also the fees should be at a reasonable price.

I am a beginner. I have been to Asia a few times now and will likely be there on a quarterly basis. I would like to be able to have some basic conversation while there. It would also help to be able to listen during some of our business meetings and at least have an understanding of the discussion without having to wait for the interpreter.
