I am a beginner (no previous knowledge) of chinese. I plan on doing business in Beijing for 2008 Olympics. I would like to learn as much as possible in the next 2 years.
In addition, my wife is interested in learning with me. I would like to discuss with someone about training us both near our home in Suwanee GA.
I need to know pricing for both of us. Suggested dilect of chinese. I assume it is Mandarian Chinese, but is there something I am not aware of that I should be considering.
My overall goal is to learn enough to be able to conduct business prior to my arrival in 2 years.

My level of language proficiency is beginner. I have taken some introductory courses at university, however, I have never applied this to real life situations. I am learning for pleasure, not for business. I would prefer a lighter, less serious approach. One or two hours a week is sufficient, in a class-room environment. I am a graduate who enjoys learning and speaking foreign languages. I speak 2 foreign languages fluently and generally find it fairly easy to pick up new ones. I have recently returned from China, where I spent 6 months in Beijing. I learnt a bit of Chinese but am now looking for a teacher who will help me continue to learn. Ideally I would like to reach a good standard and return to China within the next few years.
I am currently studying the characters but would like to concentrate mostly on conversation with my teacher.
I am looking to have at least one 2-hour session every week, depending on the location and cost.
I am looking for a teacher who is motivated to see me improve. I would also like to find a teacher who can adapt their style of teaching to suit my style of learning.
