I am traveling to China this year and will spend about 1.5-2 years working in Xiamen. I am travelling alone, and plan to work/live/com municate in Mandarin.
My father has recently married Jian Jian, a Xiamen native, and I plan to live with her mother while I travel. It is very important to me to learn to speak Mandarin, both for my travels, and to communicate with my new extended family.
I have NO working knowledge of Mandarin, and am interested in developing conversation/ speaking skills.
I would like to start lessons in the beginning of September, and be fairly intensive until my trip departure in early November.
I will require a teacher who is:
-able to teach me practical skills that will help me to communicate in China
-patie nt with my lack of experience with the language

Hello, my family has very recently moved to China to follow my husbands work. We are based in Tianjin, we will live in China for a minimum of 3 years. My son attends a local international school and will have classes in the Chinese Mandarin language.
I am at the beginner (very beginner) level and I have chosen to learn the Chinese Mandarin language for several reasons
(i) Conversationa l Chinese Mandarin is necessary to me to function in the local community (shopping, working etc).
(ii) It will help me support my son learning the language (iii) When I have settled into Tianjin I would like to look for part-time work and will therefore need the Chinese Mandarin language.
In a teacher I would like someone who has a sense of humour in their learning however is structured and can produce a planned programme which will be followed.
