As far as Mandarin goes, I am a complete beginner. But I'm very interested in learning Mandarin for a variety of reasons -- the most important being that my new sister-in-law is from China, and her English is not the greatest, so I'd like to learn her language and be able to have meaningful conversations with her! Conversationa l Mandarin is obviously the first thing I'd like to learn, but eventually it would also be nice to be able to read menus at Chinese restaurants and such. I work full time until about 6pm every day, so lessons once or twice a week after that would be ideal for me. A teacher with a powerful command of both Mandarin and English is important to me.

Chi nese Mandarin can be considered as the 3rd language need to be learned in Malaysia. It's also essential for career advancement and self improvement skill.
Areas need improvement - grammar conversation (pronunciatio n)
Time can me dedicated to lessons - 4-6 hours a week (only during weekends)
I expect lessons that can make me able to converse and understand mandarin and even write chinese characters in the end. I hope the teacher will have patience and can guide me through the course successfully.

I have some basic Mandarin from attending secondary school.
Im interested in learning Mandarin to explore business opportunities in China or with Chinese companies.
I am keen on learning conversationa l Mandarin to communicate better and more effectively.
The time depends on the minimum number of lessons needed, schedule and cost of having regular classes.
The lessons have to be structured eg talking about different topics such as weather, food, etc.
The teacher should be extremely patient and try to make the lessons lively and interesting as the student can be quite a slow learner :-)
