I have studied Mandarin at the University of Singapore for one year in 1983-84. I completed a Beginners and an Intermediate Course. I was taught conversationa l Mandarin, the simplified Mandarin script, as well as Han Yu Pin Yin. I was fluent in 'everyday' Chinese at the end of the course. Obviously, after 20 years, with no practice, I have lost my Chinese language skills. I am now interested in reviving my Mandarin skills, both spoken and written, although I would like to concentrate more on my spoken language skills. I am willing to spend up to 4 hours a week in person or 6-8 hours a week via internet/mail /chat to upgrade my skills. I am looking for a Mandarin language teacher who is proficient in spoken Chinese and in the simplified Mandarin script.

Th is is primarily from a career advancement perspective. I have been working in Relationship Management / Business Development roles in the BPO industry for the past 6 years. With China emerging as the next preferred destination it is quite probable that my current employer might start operations in China. Alternatively I might want to pick up employment with a chinese BPO company that would have use for my skills and experience.
