I was born in Canada, so i would consider myself the typical canadian-born chinese. I have a basic understanding of Cantonese, but im looking for Mandarin lessons. Lessons in reading, writing and speaking.
Im seeking these lessons because being chinese, i believe i should be able to do more then just listen.
Th ese lessons are meant for the summer (the 2 months i have off of school), but that does not mean you should expect a half-baked job. I do plan, if the lessons go well, to continue with them.
I am looking for a tutor who has a lot of patience with a student who has Zero understanding of Mandarin. I would also like to improve my Cantonese during these lessons (if possible...)

Hi,
i'm a beginner wishing to learn to speak, read and write Mandarin. i will be going to China soon and would like to learn as much as possible in introductory conversation with perhaps a few Chinese characters as well, although it would probably be best to concentrate on conversation.
i would also like to learn to sing at least one Chinese song in Mandarin for Karaoke. If this is possble in a short time, this would be a bonus.
i can speak a little Cantonese already and have learned several traditional Chinese characters but i would like to tailor my learning for China, especially Beijing.
