Dear future tutor,
I live in Johannesburg and want to move to Beijing in 2008. I was taught Chinese for 2 years, but this was not intensive, and it has been a while ago. In Beijing I want to study Chinese so I want to gather some knowledge of the language. I cannot study at Wits because this is quite intensive and therefore above my budget. I hope you can help me develop my language skills.

I'm currently a student. I want to learn Mandarin for both career advancement and conversationa l but my proficiency level is only beginner so I don't really think i can find particular improvements. 1-3 hours once or twice a week is good for me. Some quatlities i'm looking for is patience because i wouldn't consider myself such a fast learner and profitable.

I studied Mandarin as an adult for 3 semesters at the University of South Florida, about 10 years ago. I also had one semester of chinese characters. I would like to gain proficiency and fluency for personal enrichment, and would also like to travel to Taiwan and China sometime in the next few years.
I have a full time job, so learning would have to be outside normal working hours.
