My husband recently was offered a job in Shanghai. We will be moving towards the end of February and need to gain as much knowledge of the language as possible. Neither of us have any experience speaking chinese so we will be starting from scratch. We both have studied other languages so we know how difficult it can be and how much time is involved. We are hoping to be able to meet twice a week in the evenings after my husband gets off work. We would love to start as soon as possible, it will be very helpful in his job as well as our overall living experience in Shanghai if we can leave with some conversationa l chinese under our belt. I am learning Turkish because from the summer of 2011 to the summer of 2012 I will be studying abroad in Turkey. Although I have experience learning Spanish, I know very little Turkish. I leave in eight months for my trip and by that time I would like to be a strong beginner in Turkish. I am looking to dedicate 3-4 hours per week studying Turkish, 2 hours with a teacher and 2 hours on my own. I am looking for a teacher who is willing to be patient and work with me to improve my language skills.
