I just want to speak the language because I am going to be visiting the area on a regular basis, I just know a few workds but I speak Shona from Zimbabawe and the languages are very similar. I just want to learn the whole language and be able to speak and write.I will put in as much time as I need to but I need to know the extend of the workload before I can commit on time. I just need a teacher who can impart knowlege and show me the ropes.

I recently travelled to Tanzania, and have discovered my love for this country! I wish to travel to Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda in the future, once I have finished my degree and graduate year of work (in 1.5-2.5 years time). I am hoping to become somewhat fluent in Swahili (if possible), by the time I travel to these countries, as I wish to undertake volunteer work and work within the communities. I was in Tanzania for a 6 week period and during this time I was only able to learn very basic greetings, please, thank you, etc in Swahili. I really enjoy this language and I hope that I can become fluent for future travels, and possibly would assist to gain a permanent visa in these countries.
I can dedicated one session per fortnight, and would also require homework, and access to materials that I could study in my own time. I would only be able to afford one session per fortnight at this stage, however I would increase this if it became financially possible.

I am attempting to learn Swahili on my own. I visited Kenya and Tanzania a few years ago and developed a love for the language used there.
I have some basics but it still needs a lot of work. I learn for pleasure and with hope to go back to Tanzania one day for a bit longer.
I am loooking for a professional, flexible and demaning teacher who will motivate me to regular work.
Time I will be able to spend learning will depend on the season and price - 1-2hours a week preferably.
