I have just finished one years worth of college chinese (mandarin). So I am about the proficiency level of a high school student who has taken four years of chinese and work hard at it. We used the two text books 'Integrated Chinese' Level 1, Parts 1 and 2. They both focused on dialogues with only a few narratives.
I am trying to find a class to learn all of the the 2nd year of college chinese so that I will be able to start the 3rd year of chinese in the fall. My college (UCSD) cancelled all but 1/3 of thier 2nd year chinese class that they were offering this summer.
If you can help me, let me know. I am looking to take classes in groups of 10 or more. I am looking to take classes from 4-9pm at night on weekdays (or 5-9pm). I have up to $1500 to pay for the whole summer or maybe... $1000 for 2/3 of the summer (i.e. ~6 weeks).

I have been studying Arabic in college for a year and am through the first ten chapters of Al-Kitaab. I plan to study in Damascus or Amman next spring and want to improve my conversationa l skills and build my vocabulary over the summer. I took a couple of weeks of Spanish in Chicago in 1998. So, I am starting from zero, really.
I am going to Argentina in October so I want to learn enough to get around resonably. I also work as a flight attendant, and I could definitely use Spanish at work as Southwest Airlines carries a lot of strictly Spanish-speak ing people.
I can dedicate 2 hours a week to meet with an instructor, and I can study for 10 hours a week.

I just finished my MA in East Asian art and I am getting into the field of contemporary Chinese art dealership.I will be travelling to China periodically and my goal is to be able to communicate with people in general and with artists in particular.
I have some very basic Chinese knowledge, I did a 3 months course at SOAS, London, during my studies.
O ral communication is my main goal (with emphasis on prononciation ), as well as being able to read basic Chinese. Eventually I'd like to be able to write it, as I find Chinese calligraphy and the art of writting it very beautiful, but it is not my main goal for the moment.
I spend most of the time in Miami Beach, although I travel a lot. I will be leaving end May to Europe, then going to China and coming back beginning of July.
I would like to see my teacher personally when I am in Miami, 2 or 3 times a week, (I can go to the teacher's location if it's up to 20 minutes away) and that he/she gives me 1 hour homework a day. When I am abroad I'd like to have classes by phone or have my questions answered by email, and again have the homework that I'll do on my own.
I have a good ear for languages and it is also my hobbie. I am from Spain but I speak English, French and German.
I want someome who is able to explain me logically how Chinese grammar works, but focusing on everyday situations, and that is going to correct my prononciation . Someone intelligent who challenges me.
