I am interested in learning spanish because its something that has always interested me. I have been latin dancing for a few years now, and would love to be able to travel more.

My wife and I are beginners in the Spanish language. We have purchased a retirement home in Panama and believe we should become proficient in Spanish for both practical reasons (day-to-day living) and as a sign of respect to our Panamanian friends, neighbours, and contacts.
As beginners we need to develop all aspects of our language skills. We both speak French, and are reasonably proficient in German, so we have the skills to learn new languages (as well as the motivation).
We would be prepared to dedicate from 2 to 4 hours per week to our lessons and would prefer to attend classes in a location in Ottawa rather than our residence.
As Spanish seems to have significant regional variations in dialect we wish to learn from a teacher who is familiar with Central American Spanish, who will concentrate (at least initially) on general conversationa l (rather than business) skills.
