Hello! I am interested in learning Japanese so I can meet wonderful people and read, write, and speak in Japanese. I would love to become a translator!!!
A nyway I hope to find a language exchange person who is willing to teach Japanese and I will teach you English. I have better than average English skills since I attended advanced English and grammar in high school and college. I may talk in slang sometimes but that is the beauty of English that there are so many words to describe things. I know it can be difficult but I am patient and have been told I would make a great tutor or teacher.
Anyway I am a beginner in Japanese learning greetings and some well known phrases. I have a hard time discerning the words in songs and talking because sometimes they are spoken very fast, even in movies and anime.
I want to learn more. I feel it's best to try to learn the culture as well because it helps give an understanding about the language and people.
I would love to begin with email and then will try the text and voice. I really want to visit Japan some day in the near future.
I work many hours during the week so the weekends are the best time for me to be able to talk. At times I may be able to send a quick email while I'm working.
I hope to meet some interesting people here to help each other with our languages and cultures.

I am a retired professor of Agricultural Economics (University of California, Davis) and live in northern California near the state capital, Sacramento. I love travel, history, art, classical music and opera. I have taken two years of Italian at University of California, Davis. I am a retired enginer and have a desire to go to Vietnam and traverse the Mekong river from its headwaters to the South China sea. I was born and raised in a small town just outside of Vancouver British Columbia Canada. I attended college in Vancouver and graduated with a BA in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation I worked for a Buisnes Form Company in Toronto Canada and in 1968 I came to California to work for a small cosmetic company until 2001 when I retired. My hobbies are woodworking and building small period furniture. I am married and have grandchildren who live with 100 miles of our home in northern California.
