My great, great grandmother was a full bloodied Choctaw Indian but she married a full blooded Scotch immigrant. She was an inspiration. Strong, smart and worldly. Granny spoke 7 languages fluently: English, Choctaw, Cherokee, Spanish, Gaelic, Portuguese and French. When I a was a wee little thing, she would tell me stories and some of them were a blend of languages and I remember them fondly.
My goal is to get closer to my roots and would love to some day be able to read some of those stories in the native tongue. A dream would be to be able to visit the many places that she spoke about and to have a real conversation in their native tongue.
I am thrilled to have found this site and truly hope that it helps me fulfill my desires.

I am interested in learning Irish as a cultural development, to keep the language alive, and because it is a part of my ancestral heritage.
My proficiency level is early beginner. I know a few words and phrases and struggle with the written.
I need improvement in all areas.
I think one class per week would be beneficial over an indeterminate period of time.
I would like to set up a satellite class at the local library for other interested students to attend and learn the language. I would like a standard classroom outline with lots of practice between the individuals.
