i would have to say i dont know anything abt mandarin language.. (therefore i would fall under beginner's category).
and the purpose is for my career.. for one, my current working environment, everyone speaks mandarin 90% of the time. plus in the job market, its one of the most in demand language.
i can allocate 2x a week.. say 1hr to 1.5hrs per session.. is that ok? i am ok with the duration. Just the frequency would be a problem. weekdays evening preffered. weekends is not possible.
my expectation is purley 'conversation al' level. Not to be an expert.. just as long i can converse would b e sifficient. writing skills is not necessary.
