Hello. I am a beginner learner of Gujarati. I am an American woman married to a Gujarati man and am interested in learning the language of his family. My husband was raised here but much of his extended family are only recent arrivals to this country and I am therefore, unable to communicate with them. My goal is to become a proficient speaker of the language. At this point, I am not as interested in writing and reading the script. I have purchased a text course which I am finding helpful and am awaiting a language software to be delivered but feel strongly that personal instruction will speed the process tremendously. I also need assistance in pronunciation .

My 15 year old son has a talent for foreign languages. He is currently an A-student in Honors French 3 as a high school sophmore. He plans to pursue a career in a foreign-langu age related field. He would like to learn another language in addition to french.
He is particularly interested in german, since his dad is fluent in that language -- he feels it would be advantageous to have someone to converse with in german on a regular basis. Unfortunately , his high school does not offer German language instruction.

I am currently living in Japan as an English teacher, but I'm really interested in learning the language as well. I've been studying Japanese for about 7 months, so my level is beginner. I take a lesson once a week for about 1 hour. While I enjoy it and it is very helpful, I feel that I don't get enough conversation practice. The focus is mostly vocabulary and grammar. So, I'd like to focus more on conversation/ natural speaking. I will be returning to America soon and will be living in Buffalo, NY. I would hate to lose the little knowledge of Japanese I do have, and would like to continue learning this great language. I've always wanted to be able to speak a 2nd language, and I'd like to be able to return to Japan someday and communicate with natives.
I'd like to dedicate about 1 hour to my language lesson, either once or twice a week. I'd like to continue to gain skills, but practicing those skills more with conversation. So, I guess I'd like my lesson to focus on one specific target or topic, then practice that topic using it in conversation. I think that the more I practice it, the better I will retain it.
