I'm a complete beginner to the Chinese (Mandarin) language and would like some help with pronunciation and speaking especially. I would like to meet with a tutor one-on-one. I would prefer to meet on the Seattle University campus, which is where I spend most of my days. I can only meet on weekedays afternoon hours, or after 6:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I prefer to learn from a native Chinese speaker who has some experience teaching Chinese to an English speaker.

It's really embarassing how little I know. I bought the colloquial amharic book and tapes a while back, but I need a little more structure and encouragement than this provided. I studied arabic for two years in college along with middle eastern history and politics. Presently i am between beginner and intermediate. I spent a year in Iraq with the US military and may go back in the future. I am also considering applying to the foriegn service. I am look for about 6-10 hours per week focusing on spoken arabic. Modern standard arabic is what I am studying on my own right now. I would like to use that as a base but I am open to learning the Iraqi, Leventine, Gulf or Egyptian dialects in addition. I am looking for a instructor that will have patience, creativity, and the discipline necessary to keep me focused on improving my ability to speak and understand spoken arabic.
