I'm a beginner learning Korean at UCLA, I am learning this language because I have great interest in Korean culture. So far I have only taken 2 weeks of instruction at UCLA and would like a tutor to further increase my proficiency in the language. I am horrible with pronounciatio n and language in general. I would like to dedicate 2 hours of tutoring a week. The qualities I am looking in a teacher is someone who I can freely talk about social issues, and has skills in teaching someone who is very slow in learning another language.

My proficiency level is probably beginner-inte rmediate. My parents speak English to me, but Korean to each other, and Korean is their first language.
I would like to learn Korean for conversationa l purposes with my family and other Koreans.
I would like to improve in grammar and conversation.

Proficiency - unsure but a little more than beginner. I have some reading/compr hension abilty.
Re asons - work related reasons; also I'm korean so I feel I should know more than my current level.
Are as - all areas can be improved but I'd prefer emphasis on speaking/comm unication if possible.
Time - once per week would be ok to start. I'd prefer one on one instruction in classroom setting if possible.
Teacher Qualities - someone with a good/effectiv e way to teach language.

My father grew up in Gujarat and I love visiting my family there. I have taken Hindi classes and therefore can hold a simple, muddled Hindi/Gujarat i conversation. I want to learn Gujarati so I can speak easily with my family - especially with my grandma. I also want to be able to participate in dinner table conversations and understand what people are talking about. It's frustrating to always have to ask someone to translate.
