I would have to say I am a beginner. My ethnicity is Thai but I have grown up only speaking english. My mother's native language is Thai but I just never learned it and now, at 21 years old, I want to be able to speak Thai! I am able to understand basic conversations in the language but I have never really tried to speak in Thai.
I am looking for a teacher who can teach me conversation, pronunciation , and any techniques that will help me learn faster. I probably would like lessons at least once every two weeks (because I know my mom can always help me in between lessons in pronunciation since her native language is Thai).
I also have a boyfriend who wishes to learn and so we are looking for a private lesson for the both of us. I am definitely looking for a tutor who is patient, has an organized way of teaching, and who is able to give tips/techniqu es in how to pronounce words as best as possible.

I lived in Thailand last year for 6 months. There, I had intensive Thai language training but it solely focused on oral abilities, I cannot read or write, only speak. I am looking for someone in New York City to teach me Thai once or twice a week - and I am hoping to apply to receive credit from my college for the class (Columbia University).
