I want to learn Thai as I have been to Thailand a few times on holidays, and love the culture and people. I have made many friends there, including some who don't speak English very well, so I want to learn Thai in order to improve my ability to communicate with them.
I am a beginner, aside from the 'standard' tourist phrases picked up during my visits to Thailand.
I am able to commit to 2-3 lessons per week, as well as being willing to spend a few more hours studying/prac tising during my own time.
I have studied languages before (English, French, Latin, and am used to a 'traditional' teaching approach. I.e. I am hoping to learn the language by understanding its basic grammatical structure, rather than purely by speaking and listening as some modern approaches tend to suggest.
I am based in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and work regular office hours. Thus I would prefer a teacher who is based in the same area, and able to offer evening/weeke nd lessons if possible.

I lived in Cambodia for 3 years and learnt some of the language. Now I am married to a Cambodian and have two children learning from their father. I would like to improve conversationa l skills as well as study reading and writing, as I intend to live in Cambodia eventually. I would like one lesson a week with my 3 year old son present. A suitable teacher for me is one who has experience teaching and can structure lessons in a way that I can practise all skills. I would also need to be given plenty of homework.
