I need to learn conversationa l Hindi to at least the level subscribed below, if not further than this for career advancement:
Must be able to satisfy routine social demands and limited work requirements. Can handle routine work-related interactions that are limited in scope. Can handle with confidence, but not with facility, most normal high-frequenc y social conversationa l situations including extensive, but casual, conversations about current events, as well as work, family, and autobiographi cal information. Can get the gist of most everyday conversations but has some difficulty understanding native speakers in situations that require specialized or sophisticated knowledge. Utterances are minimally cohesive. Linguistic structure is usually not very elaborate and not thoroughly controlled; errors are frequent. Vocabulary use is appropriate for high-frequenc y utterances, but unusual or imprecise elsewhere.
I am an absolute beginner in proficiency. I tend to learn the romance languages well and easily. I must be able to practice frequently, and I am extremely willing to dedicate a great deal of time and effort to studying Hindi.
I would like to practice everyday for a couple of hours in order to make significant, rapid progress. If there is audio, video or reading material I can use on my own and then go over with the tutor that would be a perfect way to strike a balance between my needs and your time.
Teacher must be patient, have materials to use or share, have the ability to adapt to my speed of learning and my needs as a student, have a sense of humor, have a good track record with past student, have references who are able to be contacted.
I am willing to travel to Toronto or the GTA from Buffalo over Saturday or Sunday for in person studies, and can do on-line, voice chat, video conferencing or telephone daily or every other day during the week.

Vietnamese was my first language but I stopped speaking the language after I attended school. My parents wanted us to speak English with them so they could learn and I never went back to speaking Vietnamese. I understand south Vietnamese unless it's about history, geography, politics or names. I do not know how to read or write Vietnamese unless it's a restaurant menu. I want to learn how to read and write it to support my speaking the language. I would need to work on my conversation and grammar as I've been told that I speak like a child since I am trying to speak it the way I remember. I would hope to spend about 2-3 times a week for at least an hour or more. I can work independently but I would want to make contact with my tutor at least once a week or more. I am looking for a teacher who will make the lesson interesting at a beginner's level. I attempted to learn the alphabet from my Mom over the holidays and really struggled.

I am wanting to learn Portuguese because I am wanting to be an exchange student to Brazil. I had an exchange student stay with me who was from Brazil, and the both of us went back to her home together, and for the month I stayed in Brazil, changed my life forever.
I know only a few words in Portuguese, but I am also attempting to teach myself via podcast and online sites. I am willing to try my best and learn quickly and efficiently; I have already learned 2 years of Japanese and I have retained most of it even though it has been about a year since my last class.
As for improvement-- everything, just teach me everything.
I can dedicate all my after-school time to up to 9 PM at night, and many of my weekend hours. Mind you, I don`t want to use all of those hours commuting back and forth to a city somewhere.
B asically, I just want a teacher.. I want he or she to have a good sense of humor, and to be able to teach me some history and other random things that I should know about Brazil. I want them to grade me hard, because the harder I am graded, the harder I work.

I am trying to find a way to learn Russian due to my work environment. About 40% of the people I come in contact with speak Russian and I completely understand the language barrier. It not only is it difficult on my end but I know they struggle as well. I will be a beginner with no background in the language at all. I am willing to spend two to three hours a week to learn the language. I really am looking to be able to speak the language well enough for them to understand me so work can go smoother.
