My proficiency level is beginner at best, as I have never taken classes to learn Sinhalese before.
I am looking to learn Sinhalese because I am applying for a scholarship to work in Sri Lanka for 9 months and need to be able to communicate with the local people and read documents written in Sinhalese.
B ecause I have no former experience with learning the Sinhalese language, I am looking to start with the basics.
I am willing to dedicate as much time as necessary to learning the language because it is essential that I be able to communicate with Sri Lankans once I am there.
The quality I am most looking for in a teacher is patience as I have never attempted to learn the language before.

Reverend Sir or Lady,
My name is Ratanamata and I want to become a hermit who lives a life of generosity towards bhikkhus, bhikkhunis and other hermits. It is my ideal to find 2 hect of land and let a permaculture grow there which provides the food that I want to share with them. I also want to build an earthship(sus tainable ecological housing) and live a life in solitude. It is my wish to to do that in a safe place where that generosity can be practiced because there are enough begging monks and nuns available. I also like it if it is within 50 kms of the sea because of the moderate sea climate. So Sri Lanka seems a good choice.
It seems beneficial to learn the language, 10% speaks english complete. So I am orientating for finding help with that. I am not a rich man and any help is welcome.
