I heard a poem read by a little girl from Galway in the Irish language and I fell in love with it. I bought the Teach Yourself Irish course, but the course does not answer 90% of the questions I have. I need a fluent or native person who cane explain to me how the lanugage really works and can help me with my pronuciation.
I am not a complete beginner. I do know some of the very basic grammar rules, but I have no speaking capability at all. I know that I will never be a native Irish speaker, but I would love to be able to visit Ireland and have a real conversation with someone who wants to speak Irish, or to turn listen to RnaG on the internet and understand at least half of it. While I am learning for my own personal growth, I am serious about becoming conversationa l and maybe even fluent in the language. I am willing to committ to the study of Gaeilge if I believe that I have a teacher who is going to help me.
I don't have an ideal teacher in mind. I would love a native speaker, but a fluent speaker who has had personal success with the language in a native environment will do also. My teacher will have to be patient with me. My ears and mouth are not trained for speaking a language other than English. It will be rough in the beginning.

I am interested in learning basic Gaelic (Munster), the language of my grandparents. I am a beginner, but have learned to speak other languages fluently. I need basic grammar, writing system and then conversationa l practice. I would like to take a hour a week as well as create a plan for study throughout the week. I am interested in perhaps more intense study working toward fluency at a later point. I am looking for a teacher who pushes students to learn and has high expectations. I also speak Spanish, Portuguese, some French (used to work in French years ago). I have also studied/been conversationa l in Russian, Belize Creole and Catalan.
