I live in Cyprus, am now retired (60), and have taken lessons for 2 full years at a good language school and into my third year. I enjoy it all very much but feel I am unable to converse well enough and need to gain confidence in my speaking to 'get over the hump' as I continue to study! Unfortunately there is not enough Greek spoken in my everyday life. I feel a live-in situation in Greece with the possibility of learning to cook too (helping in the home) would force me to gain that confidence by being forced to speak in Greek and hear Greek spoken constantly. I would like to do this sometime in 2009. Unfortunately being retired could hinder the amount of time I will be able to do this study due to the cost but feel 2 weeks would be the minimum time required to make a substantial improvement. I would hope for a safe respectable home to stay in with a geniune teacher who is concerned for my improvement in speaking Greek.

I am an advanced beginner with the equivalent of two terms of adult education in Modern Greek. It is my hope to travel in Greece to visit sites famous in antiquity. I need opportunities for conversation to practise what I have learned and to extend my knowledge. I can devote at least an hour a week to a formal lesson and would work independently to prepare myself. Face-to-face tutoring in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne is what I seek and am prepared to to pay appropriate rates, subject to negotiation. I am not interested in on-line or phone tutoring.I would like a competent speaker of Greek, with a Greek ethnic background, who is bilingual.The tutor does not necessarily have to have training in teaching language, merely to be patient and reliable.

Good evening,
M y name is Oscar Ruiz. The reason I'm looking to learn Greek is because next year I will be going to study to greece for a couple of months, obviously the program I'm taking is not in greek but I still want to learn some of the language before I leave to help myself while living there. I have no idea about greek but I beleive I can learn fast. I'd like to discuss what is the best method I can use to learn fast.
