I am a sixteen year old male who was an American born Chinese now living in Canada, fluent only in English. I only know a few words in Cantonese and I would like to become fluent someday. I'm realizing now how important this language is too me and I am regretting that I did not take the chance to learn the language earlier. I am very aware that mandarin is becoming more wide spread but I wish to learn Cantonese as a way to affirm my cultural identity.
At the moment I am only interested in learning conversationa l Cantonese and not the reading/writi ng aspect of the language. I am able to spend 1-2 hours a week on lessons.
I am looking for a teacher who is fluent in English and able to explain the language to me. Maybe even correct my terrible accent!
