I am a complete beginner in Mandarin. I am fascinated by anything Chinese and have always wanted to learn the language in order to better understand the culture. Sadly I don't seem to get on too well with the audio book I have at the moment and despite awaiting another one (and grammar books!) I believe they are only aids to learning. What I really need is a teacher! Timewise, I am looking to spend about two to three hours per week learning the language with a patient teacher. Normally I pick up languages fairly easily but Mandarin is so different that help will be needed!
I am free most evenings, the occasional Saturday and every Sunday afternoon. Travel isn't a problem either, within reason!

I am a creative artist, planning to move to L'viv within the next 18 months and would like to commence learning the national language of the Ukraine. I have absolutely no knowledge of the language and only 2 weeks experience of the cyrillic alphabet from a visit to Russia 20 years ago.
I am looking for regular contact with a tutor in order to arrive in the Ukraine with, at the very least, a basic command of grammar, syntax & pronounciatio n.

I have been to Thailand and had 20 private lessons in Phonetic Thai at a language school in Pattaya. Since returning in November I have been studying the Thai language differently by learning the letters and can now almost read Thai although I only understand a few words. I feel I now have a better basis to continue

I am a beginner, and just want to learn. I know the odd basic word like colours, body parts, numbers up to 20, but cant string a sentance together.
I am learning it for self development. I have always wanted to learn another language, and can pick them up quite quickly. I have many asain friends and would enjoy being able to have conversations with them.
I need improvement in all aspects - conversation is my first step, but i would like to be fluent and be able to learn grammer aswell.
I would like to dedicate about 3 hours a week - if its lessons. but homework i am happy to spend an hour a day.
I am looking for qualities to teach. I dont want to go through a text book, the moe interacive learning the better, am willing to try all ways of learning.
