I would consider myself as a beginner even though I was raised in a Slovak-Americ an home. I want to become proficient in Slovak out of personal interest. Grammar is one of my main stumbling blocks.
I'm retired and can devote as much time as necessary. I would like my teacher to be from Slovakia and available in the immediate Washington, PA area. I would expect my instructor to be educated and capable of proper teaching methods.

I am learning foreign languages mostly because of personal interest, and in the case of Galician, cultural identity. My level of proficiency is varyingly intermediate in the three languages that I am currently learning. I can communicate actively in French, although I have some difficulties understanding spoken French. The same goes for Portuguese, although the similarities between my native Spanish and Portuguese aid me. Galician is the one I have studied the least, however, it is the most similar to Spanish in terms of pronunciation and grammar. In French, my greatest failing is my auditory comprehension of the language, i.e, I have difficulties following colloquial conversation. The same goes for Portuguese. With Galician, I have no issues whatsoever understanding the spoken or written language, I would just like to polish off my speaking. I would be willing to dedicate multiple hours a week to my language-lear ning, perhaps as much as six hours a week. As far as qualities for my teacher goes, I merely would hope that he/she would be open-minded, patient, and interesting/e d.
I have recently changed my learning preferences to Quechua, Catalan, and German, however, this does not mean that I am no longer interested in French, Galician, and Portuguese.

I am interested in learning Farsi primarily because my boyfriend is Persian and if I am planning to spend the rest of my life with somebody, knowing the language would be a big plus, especially in communication with the family. I do no speak any Farsi, although i do know some phrases and words. I am available on weekends and I would like to spend a few (1 or 2 max) or hours each week with a tutor, unless I need more time. I need a teacher that is organized and knows the right strategies in learning a language. I am not very confident about learning how to read and write but i hope it is possible. I do speak Russian and my pronunciation of Farsi is not too bad, except for some words which I will need to work on. I am looking forward to learning the new language!
