I and my son (Charles Williams) are beginners. He is marrying a Vietnemse woman on Dec 4, 2010. Although she speaks the English language, her mother and other members of the family don't. He needs to learn it because of his fiance's relations, and he needs to be able to converse. Can you imagine living in a home whereby relations revert to their native language and he has no understanding of what they are saying. I would like to learn the language because of the upcoming marriage and quite frankly it will be a challenge.
We also need a translator for the wedding that will take place on Dec. 4.

Wish to find a tutor for American Sign Language to teach my 16 year old son, who is sophomore in high school. My son, diagnosed ADHD, has struggled with Spanish language class in the past and must complete 2 years 'foreign language' for high school graduation. He attends a private, Catholic, all male high school in St. Louis. The school has agreed American Sign Language will satisfy 'foreign language' requirement but has not the staff (or funding) to enable such study at this time. We are prepared to hire, privately, a tutor for our son to learn American Sign Language. He is a novice. We expect him to dedicate same hours to American Sign Language as to rest of his classes. Qualities we are looking for in a tutor include patience and sincere desire to work with inexperienced , teenaged boy. Ideally, we would be able to engage in-person, in addition to on-line and via video. If it will help him, I will 'enroll' to learn ASL at same time. I expect we will need some type of curriculum documentation for the school. Anticipate this will be two year commitment (for us), but may well provide opportunities with other students in this school.
