I kind of fell into learning Russian back in the 90's and circumstances have again allowed me to persue further fluency. I suppose other than to be able to use it in church, and with friends here, I hope to go on a mission trip to the Ukraine in the future.
I'm really not sure what my proficiency level is. My grammer stinks as I've never really had any 'professional ' instruction. It is a constant source of frustration for me. I'm rapidly coming to the point where I need to either get something like Rosetta Stone or go to a formal class, (other than the one I already attend). The other area which I am trying for all I'm worth to better myself at is comprehension when I'm being spoken to. Even when someone says something I should know, I either can't remember the words fast enough to keep up or don't understand the form of word being said as they change all the timee depending on useage!
I have a limited budget to allow for this, however I REALLY do want to become fluent, so I can be available often. I do however have a odd schedual that I would have to work around.
I would very much enjoy a class with other students where there is alot of talking, and creative learning and not so much emphasis on mundane reading of grammatical rules.

I am Indian by birth, I was born in Bombay and lived there till I was 21 years of age. I have lived in several asian countries and the middle east before moving to the US where I now reside. I grew up speaking mostly English but have a good understanding and speaking capability for Hindi. I would like to learn and expand my knowledge of Urdu (mostly speech), and learn Sanskrit. This is for my personal growth and interest. I will need grammer, conversation and an understanding of the concept of the language. If given the right materials and teacher, I would spend about 1/2 hour everyday towards studying, and enhance that with books, movies and other ways to expose my interest further. I would like to have a teacher who is strong in Urdu and Sanskrit and has a solid knowledge of their origins. They should be able to speak English, although I can understand Hindi.

I would like to learn Russian because I have a growing interest in Russian culture as well as Russian history.
