Hello my name is Victoria and I am interested in learning Croatian fluently. The reason I want to learn this language is because I spent the last 6 months living in Zagreb and really loved the cultural and the experience so much. My boyfriend is Croatian and it's important for me to learn for him and his family. He speaks english very well but I can't really communicate with his family and friends. I am at a beginner's level knowing the basic greetings, some numbers and understanding very little but some conversation. I want to dedicate at least 5-6 days a week working with someone. I work with my boyfriend almost everyday but I feel like I have kinda hit a wall. I really want to learn this language and think the best way would be with a teacher. The qualities of what I look for in teacher are definitely patience learning a language is a process and I will learn better if someone can work at my pace.

I would like to speak to my mother in Thai fluently and be able to interact with my family in Thailand to build a deeper and stronger relationship. I used to go to Thai school between the ages of 12-15 but as I got older, other activities took precedence. Honestly, I would say that I am a beginner, although I do know the alphabet and vowels (salats) and a few other things but I am very rusty. I feel I need I need alot of work in grammar, conversation and writing. I am willing to dedicate a year or more. The qualities that I am looking for in my teacher is someone who will challenge me when they see that I can be pushed further than what they expected. Someone who is patient and has a variety of teaching styles that are effective. I am looking for lessons that are interactive, rigorous and useful. One issue I had with thai school is that they kept all the students at the same level which was frustrating because I wanted to advance because I had a goal in mind...to be closer to my mother.

My husband and I will be moving to Paramaribo, Suriname in the near future and I would like to begin learning Dutch. As an expat in other countries, I have studied other languages, most extensively French and Portuguese, but also a very limited amount of Vietnamese and Arabic. I would be a novice learner of Dutch, and feel that I would benefit from a series of comprehensive pronunciation lessons from the outset.
I would be interested in 1.5 hour classes twice a week.
What I look for in a tutor, is patience and understanding , of course. But also, a clear grasp of the mechanics of the language, coupled with an ability to transmit his/her knowledge in a clear and straightforwa rd manner. I also am a devotee of creative homework and appreciate a tutor who takes the time to give thoughtful feedback.
