I am a beginner, though I lived in Taiwan some years ago and retain a bit of my Mandarin learning. I would like to learn how to speak Spanish. I know some words but definitely a beginner. I would like to learn Spanish because a lot of my friends are able to speak it and my brother recently bought a home in San Felipe and would like to know the langauage while I visit. I don't know how long it will take but I am willing to spend the time. I just want a teacher who is kind and patient.

I am a German English teacher (48) and usually spend my summer break in Sacramento/CA staying at a friend's house.
As i intend to go on a sabbatical in 2008/2009 (two terms) and want to spend some time in South America, I would like to improve my Spanish in the coming summer break (July/ August 2006).
I am (more or less) a beginner but being a language teacher myself, I am quick to pick up new structures and words.
I was thinking of taking a couple of lessons per week on a one-to-one (private lesson) basis as this is the most efficient way of learning a language.
