My boyfriend and I will travel to Thailand at the end of the year. We would like to have some understanding of the language before our trip. We would like to be able to carry out simple conversations .
I am a complete beginner - I have spent 2 months in Thailand but can mostly say hello, thank you, and numbers.
M y boyfriend is also a beginner, but has also spent 1-2 months in Thailand. Also, his mother is Thai and spoke Thai to him as a child - he will most likely pick it up quickly!

I would like to freshen up my german conversationa l skills. I believe it would be helpful in my career as an actuary and computer programmer with a multi-nationa l company. I started taking german classes when I was in 6th grade and continued all the way through high school. I was taught Hochdeutsche Dialekte in school and then when I was a Junior in High School I learned some Schwäbisch when I lived with a family in Ravensburg in southern Germany. I was somewhat fluent at the time in basic conversationa l german. I also tested out of 8 credits at Drake University. Unfortunately I have not used it since. I can understand others if they speak slow enough, but I have a hard time remembering enough vocabulary to speak it myself. I have done some translation in both German and Dutch on the job, but it is time consuming and I need a dictionary to help get me through. I would like to become fluent again at the very least.

Asalaam Alaikum,
I am interested in learing Arabic for a few reasons. I need 1.5 years to enter into University of Florida. It can be ANY language, but I hate Spanish and Arabic is quite a bit more practical to me.
I also want to learn so I can understand the Quran better. I am a new Muslim. I don't have the time to dedicate NOW to Arabic but the spring, I can dedicate 15+ hours a week for study. I would like a woman but thats not really necessary.
