I am learning Japanese for a future career translating, or with a Japanese business, as well as for my own enjoyment. I have been studying the language for 4 years; I would consider my written/textb ook knowledge to be intermediate (I'm a good student) but my conversationa l abilities are seriously limited, and mostly I just freeze up when given the opportunity to speak Japanese.
I am looking for an experienced teacher/tutor , preferably Japanese native to speak with once a week or so. I need someone who will correct my errors, but mostly I just need to make those errors in the first place so I can learn.

I lived in Korea for 1 year from Sep 2004 to Sep 2005. I live in Vienna VA which is 12 miles from the Pentagon.
I have taken Yonsei Evening class Level 1. I self-studied for 6 months with language exchange in Seoul. However, I am still a beginner.
It is speaking and listening I need help with.
My wife is Korean, but her English is perfect so it has been too hard to learn at home because I was lazy to speak Korean at home and my wife is too busy to sit and speak. But I do have a Korean person to speak with after class!
Looking for 6-10 hours a week outside class to study. 3-4.5 hours class time a week. I am flexible. Patience and not being bored are the qualities I wish to have in my teacher. Because, I need repetition in speaking. I have the Yonsei Level 2 book and wish to go thru the speaking exercises. Verb conjugation on the fly, creating sentences using the correct particles are two examples of my interests.
I am a government employee, with a PhD in Engineering. I am 44 years old on 2005 (August). I wish to learn Korea because we will retire in Korea (in 1 to 5 years) and I wish to be avaialble for my government in case they need Korean skills in the nuclear and aerospace engineerings areas.
I am taking a class a semester at GMU so one block of time is booked ( 4:30 to 7:00 pm every Thursday Spring Semester).
