I would like to learn Urdu because I would one day love to visit Pakistan and India. The majority of my friends speak Hindi and/or Urdu. It's a language and culture I've been really interested in for quite some time and I have taken some Hindi classes. I love bollywood movies and would love to enjoy them without subtitles. I am still at beginner level, I can understand bits and pieces as well as speak few phrases. I would mostly like to learn to speak/underst and the language but would also enjoy learning to read and write. Learning about the Muslim culture and religion has become a passion of mine as well. I have a lot of respect for the Hindustani people. I would like to dedicate as much time as possible to my studies. I work weekdays until 6 and Saturdays until 2. If night classes are available or Sundays it would be much appreciated. Shukriya bahut. :)

So here it goes... I lived in Japan for 2 years with the military and fell in love with the culture and language. I immediately started taking Japanese classes and I completed 4 college semesters of classes. I am okay at casual conversation( i say okay being over generous to myself). Needless to say I have been forgetting my Japanese at a exponential rate now that I'm back in the US. I plan on returning to Japan in about a year when my military service is up and I would like to increase my fluency. I read and write hiragana and katakana. I can read somewhere between 100 and 150 kanji.
