I have started talking to a Ukrainian girl and would like to surprise her by being able to talk to her in her native language. I'm a beginner to the language. I would like to focus more on conversations although I would like to become fluent. I'm also willing to put in at least 2 nights a week. I more want something that will keep me interested. As long as I'm not bored I can keep my interest in this.

I am a Vietnamese beginner, having practiced many online internet beginner resources for the past six months, accumulating some vocabulary. However, I am not close to conversationa l yet (mac du toi song o My duoc 15 nam, toi la nguoi Canada).
I speak English and French, and a tiny bit of Spanish. Even though I've been practicing some Vietnamese words and phrases, I still don't understand almost anything yet when I hear the language spoken.
I' m interested in learning both northern and southern accents. Voice of Vietnam web site has some good beginner lessons in northern dialect, so I am most interested in practicing southern dialect lessons, via Internet, to obtain a good balance between northern and southern accents.
H ere in San Jose, California, southern accent is most common, but northern and central accent (mien trung va mien bac) is important too.
I am hoping to practice once or twice a week during weekday evenings (Pacific time).
