DEVOCIONAL PRINCIPIOS

1 PETER 1:13-16 LORD, I RESOLVE TO CONTINUE MY TRANSFORMATION IN THE PRESENT.

"Because God turned us from death to life, we now as saved have an obligation with God's help, the power of His word and our personal responsibility, to bring about total transformation in all areas where God does not perform a miracle."

God performed the miracle of giving us salvation and new life that we could not possibly have obtained. But He commissions the whole process that follows so that we become in practice the new creature that we are in position. If we are to be successful Kingdom style and leave a legacy as God demands, everything we are and everything we think we must change.

What must we do to stop thinking with the ideas of this world? What can we do to stop defining life, words, morality, politics, religion, as defined by this worldly system that is run by the evil one? How can we stop thinking that way and think as the King's principles command? How can we understand the King's will and decrees and love them and not just understand them? Surely it does not happen automatically, otherwise all Christians would live by the same principles. Remember that conversion is the work of the Holy Spirit who gives us a new life, transformation is the process of change that with God's help we go through as we apply the truths of the Bible.

When the Holy Spirit makes us children of God, He does not erase all the information we have acquired and stored in our minds. Therefore, with the help of the Holy Spirit every believer must continue the process of knowing the truth and applying it in order to become a truly transformed, mature Christian. God brings about regeneration, our responsibility is our transformation.

In the Kingdom of God the King allows no idea, no philosophy, no way of life, no attitude other than what He demands of all Kingdom citizens. Through the Holy Spirit God brings about regeneration and we are new creatures. He sovereignly decides whether He miraculously changes some of the sinful attitudes and behaviours we had when we were unconverted, but, after the miraculous regeneration, we are responsible for our transformation.

Our duty is to know and apply all the doctrine, all the ethics of the Kingdom of God in every area of our lives and every day of our lives. This is how every saved person who desires to live successfully and leave a true legacy must choose to live.

Commitment:

Lord, I thank you for my salvation and regeneration and promise that I will make every effort to know the truth so that with the help of the Holy Spirit and my personal determination, I will abandon all philosophy and behaviour contrary to biblical ethics.
