Very nice man and a good teacher I found Irshad a great person who made me feel very at home in his home town of Abbotabad. He welcomed me into his circle of friends and was a good teacher. Knowledgeable and pedagogic Urdu teacher I met with Muhammad Irshad in Abbottabad during fieldwork, and he turned out to be a pleasant and patient teacher for one who didn't have any previous knowledge of Urdu. I appreciated the way he gave historical background and introductions to both the written and the oral part of the language. Furthermore, it was very useful to get some initial frases to help me in the daily life in Pakistan. I find that the teaching was efficient not only in that the lessons were interesting and intuitive, but also in that he expects a certain studying of the material at home. That, for me, motivates the study and increases the learning. If I had had more spare time, I would have taken more lessons. I think that his experience from London also makes him able to communicate better with non-Urdu speakers, and I also found that he was eager to learn about my own culture and language in Norway. To me, Muhammad Irshad is a knowledgeable and knowledge hungry teacher of Urdu that I can recommend to anybody. And it enhances the learning to take the lessons in Abbottabad itself, where you find yourself in the middle of an Urdu speaking society. Irshad is a patient, flexible teacher with a genuine love of the language. I had some telephone conversation classes with Irshad and he was very patient, flexible and happy to help me learn words/phrases to help me say what I would want to say in real life.
