I immerse the student completely in the English language. Unless the student is studying specifically for an exam I prefer to use a communicative approach, concentrating on conversation, games, songs and quizzes. We do a lot of listening practice and video work.

Program Description

We offer homestay tuition and also private tuition for foreign students living in the local area, working at hotels etc. The family as a whole gets involved in looking after the students. Our youngest daughter still keeps in contact with many of the students of her own age. We offer programmes of study in the mornings and activities in the afternoons. The activities include visiting local Cotswold villages, gardens, National Trust properties and other places of interest such as Stratford upon Avon, Stonehenge and Bath.

I worked in International schools in Spain and Mexico and have been successfully hosting and teaching students in the UK for 10 years. We have had students of all abilities and ages and from many countries, Japan, Russia, Germany, Spain, to name but a few. I have prepared students for the Cambridge exams and for IELTS.

What is your teaching schedule?
We have lessons in the mornings unless the student has suggested otherwise. Occasionally the weather may dictate a change of plan.
If students are not staying with us lessons can be provided at their convenience.
Are teaching materials provided?
Al l materials are provided and suggestions made as to suitable books for further study at home.
What is your payment policy?
Bank details are provided and full payment must be made 15 days before arrival.
For local students payment can be made weekly.
Wh at other relevant experience makes you a more effective teacher?
Family members! My husband David who is a Headteacher in a local Primary school and 20 year old Clodagh do everything they can to make a student's stay more comfortable and memorable!
Can students have a private bathroom?
Ye s, for an additional fee of £30 per week.
