As a Filipino (Tagalog) language teacher, I used to introduce the language components;
grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure including developing the student’s reading,
writing, listening, and speaking skills in Filipino. Teaching Filipino subject is typically done
through a combination of lectures, discussions, activities, and assessments. My teaching
philosophy is centered on promoting intercultural , sensitivity and inclusivity. I believe
teaching Filipino (Tagalog) language is not just about imparting language, skills, or historical
facts; it is also about fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Filipino
culture. To achieve this, I strive to create a safe and welcoming learning environment where
students feel comfortable expressing themselves and sharing their cultural experiences.
I am allowing students to learn from each other’s diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
