I use a variety of teaching approaches depending on the learner's level of understanding of the Swahili language. All in all, I use the practical method which allows the learner to actively take part in the learning process. Especially for the beginner, I teach conversationa l language through modified patterns and set phrases, and only begin to introduce complex grammar in the later stages of the beginner sequence. Each lesson include a short oral quiz at the end to improve speaking ability. In audio lessons, the focus is almost entirely on speaking and listening skills.

With my program, the learner comes first. I'll offer lessons as per the learner's request i.e time for the lesson and duration of the lesson.

Teaching Experience
|
|
|
Intern teacher at Teremi Boy's High school teaching Kiswahili grammar, Kiswahili literature and Religious education across all classes. I used a variety of teaching methods that include question and answer, group discussion, visualisation , cooperative learning and behaviour management. Achievements included giving out the best student in Kiswahili in form two class and giving the best stream again in Swahili over eight form two streams. Also, the learner's attitude towards Swahili especially grammar positively changed.

Bei ng a Kenyan with Swahili as a national language, I am well conversant with almost every in the language. Besides, Swahili in Kenya is taught in schools from pre school to high schools as a compulsory subject. In addition to that is happens to be my best subject that's why I decided to specialise in it at the university.
