Teaching Approach

The teaching approach will feature theory and grammatical rules at the beginning of the learning session, followed by numerous examples of usage and lastly an opportunity for the learner to practice using some prepared questions and exercises. Additional practice and exercises can be provided to the learner if they are interested in practising some more on their own.

Program Description

The program is suitable for learners looking to learn Swahili for various purposes (for conversation, to conduct business in a Swahili speaking country, for a study abroad program, or for leisure). The lessons can be tailored to meet the needs of the learners focusing on the areas they have the most interest in.
Swahili for conversation and leisure purposes will feature terminology commonly used by Swahili speakers for Casula conversations . Swahili for business or a study abroad purpose will feature more formal terminology that is often used on official documents and communication .

Teaching Experience

I am a trained teacher who completed a bachelor of education degree with Swahili language being one of my minors. I taught English and Swahili at a high school for five years in Kenya before coming to Canada. I have been formally teaching adult learners at my employment (although not Swahili). I currently develop learning materials such as PowerPoint presentations , workbooks and supporting documents to support the learning of participants for my current courses. I would love to addd Swahili to that. In addition to that I am a native Swahili speaker.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is my teaching schedule?
Le ssons will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM EST. Each lesson is 1 hour long. If you require one-on-one private lessons, you will need to book a time between 3:30 and 6:30 PM EST on Saturdays.

What is my payment Policy?
Paym ent has to be competed in full online at registration before the lesson commences. Payment has to be received by the Thursday evening at 6:00 PM EST in order to have a lesson on that Saturday at 2:00 PM EST. Payments received after Thursday 6:01 PM EST will be for lessons to be held the following Saturday at 2:00 PM EST one week later.

Cost of Lessons

$50 per lesson, $250 for 6 sessions, $400 for 10 sessions. Private one-on-one lessons are $60 per lesson.
