Teaching Approach

I start my lesson with day-to-day conversations in the Swahili language.
I then introduce a student to the nouns used in the language, nouns that are commonly used in that foreign language, e.g family, food, days of the week, institutions, plants, parts of the body.
After learning the nouns, I introduce verbs that can be used with the nouns.
There after I introduce phrases following the classificatio n of nouns in the Swahili language.
Th en I introduce the writing of short essays.

Program Description

My lessons are customized to fit the needs of each individual student. I teach one student at a time to be able to give them the full attention they will need. I am flexible on time depending on the availability and interest of each student. I teach Swahili to students who are English speakers. Each lesson taught is followed by a quiz or test to help the student develop better oral and written skills.

I have taught Swahili to high school students since the year 1994
I have taught young, elementary students at individual levels
I have taught foreign students.
I have also translated resource materials from English to Swahili

I have a Bachelors degree in Education (Swahili major)
I have a Master's degree in Business administratio n
I am a registered teacher with the Teachers' Service Commission of Kenya
