I am a very approachable and communicative tutor. I am a native English speaker and have experience working with people practicing English as a foreign language study. Depending on the age of the students I am working with, I incorporate many different learning styles into my tasks. When I worked with adolescents, they preferred more interactive learning activities such as listening to songs in English, reading picture books out loud to one another, and playing interactive games like Simon Says. I would infuse these types of activities with more traditional grammar, reading, and writing lessons to maintain a focus on practicality and results.
I f I were to work with older students (high school and above), I understand that games like Simon Says are not age appropriate. I would tailor my teaching style to the respective age group and work on more relevant activities involving speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills.

Program Description

I am a semi-recent graduate of the University of Michigan. I am currently enrolled in a TEFL program through the Council on International Educational Exchange, where I have been studying the practical and theoretical application of language instruction. While at University, I interned as an ESL assistant at an elementary school. My students and I listened to songs, watched videos, played games, and conversed with one another. I made sure to incorporate a variety of stimuli (musical, audio, visual) into my teaching practices so that the students could immerse themselves in the language in numerous interactive ways.

I am currently enrolled in a TEFL certification program through the Council on International Educational Exchange. After I finish my practicum I will receive my certificate. While in college, I interned as an English Second Language assistant in an elementary school. I worked with students in kindergarten through third grade who were learning English as their second language.
