Teaching Approach

Having studied for a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics I am very aware of the obstacles faced by learning additional languages so I take these into consideration in my planning. Your learning will be driven by your needs, abilities and prior learning. I use a communicative approach as this is how we all learn our first language. However, if your priority is to prepare for a specific examination or function, such as an IELTs test, I will adapt the learning precisely to target your aims and objectives. This may entail a personal assessment of your needs followed by specific activities. Regular reviews of your progress will be used to identify further learning needs and opportunities .

As an experienced UK trained school teacher with experience of all age groups in mixed ability settings, I am well prepared to teach anyone who wishes to learn. I am skilled at identifying the most effective learning strategies to suit all types of learners and have a huge amount of experience with learning difficulties and Non-Native English learners. Your programme of study will therefore be tailored to suit your individual needs whether you choose to study as an individual or in a group. Measurable results will be the evidence of your success and my effectiveness .
