Teaching Approach

My approach is simple: I make the student see that they CAN learn the material. I focus on the fun of learning a foreign language and on the success the student can and will have in school because of the hard work he or she does during my sessions.

Program Description

I have been tutoring Spanish and French for all grade levels, from K through college for over 25 years. I am a native Spanish speaker with formal language study in Madrid, Spain. I also have proficiency in french, a language that I have been studying and teaching since the early 1960's. Part of my studies in French were done in Dijon and Rennes, France.

I believe language learning should be fun, interesting, challenging and exciting. I also realize that many students who need tutoring need help to succeed in school. To that end, my lessons include a great deal of self-esteem building and bits and pieces of cultural and other interesting language tidbits.

Teaching Experience

I was an Associate Professor of Spanish, first and second years, at Indiana University, Indianapolis Campus. I taught Spanish from 1990 until 1995. Additionally, I have spent over 25 years tutoring children of all ages, from K through High School Seniors.

Teacher Training

I am a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am available to teach at the student's convenience. The lessons are at the student's home. My lessons are one-on-one as I believe this is the best way for the child to learn. Payment is expected at the time of the lesson.
