My approach aims at nurturing the conversation skills since the very first lessons, nonetheless to give a grammatical structure.
Instead of a typical vocabulary, during lessons I use illustrated books to create a visual vocabulary (i.e.:a book about the house to learn daily life words).
In this phase of the lesson any language but Italian is "forbidden".
Moreover, I really care about giving some general knowledge about Italian culture, according to the specific interests of the student.
These goal is achieved by organising several activities such as: Italian dinner and cooking lessons (for small groups); Watching Italian TV (sessions length and themes according to the student level and interests); Listening and commenting lyrics from Italian Songs; Italian "gesture vocabulary" (very fun and very useful); and others.

Each lesson is split in two phases
1st part: Grammar
Phonetic and Pronunciation
Morphology (Declinations and Conjugations)
Syntaxis (Sentence structure)
T his part is taught in both English and Italian
2n d part: Conversation
This part is exclusively in Italian.

I have been teaching Italian to foreign people in Italy (English, Spanish and Dutch) in the last three years (13 students of all ages).
I have given mainly lessons to single students, but I also gave lessons to groups of maximum three persons.
T he average level of my students was intermediate- advanced.

Teacher Training

I do not have a specific training as a language teacher.
My education (I am a PhD in Molecular Biology) and the several chances to work with people from other countries, together with my deep interest in cultural aspects of the language, have helped me very much in building my teaching approach.
Mo reover, my job which put me in contact with several people from abroad, gave me the chance to start these working experience as Italian language teacher.
Fin ally, I have teaching experience as I train university students in scientific topics and techniques during my daily job as a scientific investigator.

I am available from Monday to Friday. The lesson schedule can be arranged according to necessities. I usually suggest one weekly lesson. Anyway two single lessons or one double lesson can be set.
I usually get cash payments at the end of the lesson.
I travelled a lot and lived in several countries. I use at least two languages in my daily life and since I have a two years old daughter I am used to be very patient!
