The first approach I use with new students is to get them to take a placement test which integrates the four skills of any language (listening,sp eaking,reading , and writing)
The outcome gives me an insight of their real level.
The next step is to know the student's goals and objectives.It 's not the same to teach a school student as an executive or even a top management senior student for that matter.
The last but not the least important element of this equation is to see what method fits best since every student has a different way to learn and absorbe information.

Over the last ten years I've been using different methodologies to teach English as well as Spanish. It would be really difficult to explain in detail all activities I carry out in class. So, I'd better exemplify this by giving you an overview of what I do in a typical class (three or more students):
F irst I introduce the topic (by showing a picture, a reading, video, etc.)(reading and listening)
T hen, I elicit some questions among the students.(spe aking)
Next, I explain some vocabulary and grammar students may not be acquainted with (Grammar structures and writing)
Lat er, I create an activity either a roleplay, a presentation or a specific task to have the students interact with one another and use the language in an experimental environment.( speaking)
Fin ally, I give some feedback and answer questions and doubts students might still have.

I've been teaching English as well as Spanish for more than fifteen years .That enables me to have the experience and knowledge to teach students of all walks of life. I got a diploma in Business English and Young Learner student.
Ive taken some seminars in my country (about methodologies and approaches to students).
I ve worked especially with professionals working in oil, insurance and financial companies)
