My approach is to listen to the student's goals and help them to achieve these goals. In a larger classroom setting, I provide a balance of conversation, listening comprehension , and grammar with an absolute focus on communication . For homework, I assign texts to read and activities that practice the vocabulary and grammar learned in class. My idea is to present the most practical material so that the students are able to get the most out of their lessons.
Of course, different individuals have different definitions of what is "practical" for them. When tutoring an individual or small group of students, it is possible to cater completely to the individual's needs. My flexible attitude allows me to concentrate on the student's chosen aspects of the language.

Program Description

for beginning and intermediate German: I offer one-on-one tutoring, small group lessons, as well as classes of up to 5 students. I have extensive experience tutoring a variety of students, each with somewhat unique goals: Some of my students have wanted to concentrate on grammar to prepare for a test or course, others plan to visit a German-speaki ng country and want to know what is most useful for getting around, still others want to focus on specific vocabulary. I have CDs and DVDs for listening activities and accompanying worksheets. In addition, I have textbooks and workbooks, copies of which I provide free of charge to my students.
Fo r all levels of English: I provide texts of various lengths and levels of difficulty, provide conversation topics that focus on specific vocabularies, grammar instruction, and also copy edit and proofread papers for non-native writers.

My payment policy: The first introductory meeting is free of charge. After that, the student can choose to take part in a course and pay for that course. Once we have scheduled a meeting, no refund should be expected in the case of student cancellation. (If I were to cancel as the teacher, of course a full refund would be provided). Please only schedule meetings when you know you can make it.
My students have varied in age from 15-60 years old. They have included high school students, university students, PhDs, and professional adults from many different countries. I find that I learn a great deal from each student, and this is both rewarding and allows me to constantly better my teaching abilities.
