    Teaching Approach

Listen a lot before the class. One of the greatest advantages of the Conversationa l Chinese Textbook is that its audio is recorded sentence by sentence. It may be hard to listen consecutively but it really good for beginner to listen to it again and again.

In the first class, student first read the text to the teacher to have a rough idea of the students achievement. Then read after the teacher word by word first , then sentence by sentence in a slow space , then sentence by sentence in a fast pace.

After the class, listen a lot and practice typing Chinese characters
In the second class, student first read the text that has been learned. The the teacher read the text aloud, and the student type. When there is some mistake, explain. The student then read the text that has been typed. Correct mistakes if there is any.

Still in the second class, go to the notes and exercises of the unit. Explain when it is necessary.
Then go to the next unit Do as the first class. Read mainly

After the class, listen a lot and type the Chinese characters and try to read the texts that have been learned.

T he third class is the same as the second class.

    Program Description

Help students to learn to listen, speak, write and read Chinese (Mandarin) for business , travel and personal interest with revolutionary new method which can save 60% of time learning Chinese.

A s a language learner always wish to learn the language in a live situation, I think Communicate in Chinese that is recently published by the China Central TV in July 2003 will be the best option for you. It has 24 VCDs, 24 tapes and 4 books with detailed introduction. You can watch the VCDs as if you awere in a classroom with the best teacher, listen to tapes when you are waiting at the traffic jam and practice speaking online with the Chinese tutor. The content of the textbooks is the newese and the most lively and most authentic among all the Chinese textbooks.

Also with this textbook, the cost of learning drops dramatically, that is. every week, you can just watch the video and listen to the tape for most of the time, the 24 VCDs is 24 hours long! And then, you can practice speaking conversationa l skills with your Chinese tutor.

A t the beginning stage from May to July 2004, we will focus on the conversationa l Chinese textbook. We will learn the language like the children do. Listen a lot first and then speak. Pay little attention to grammar.

U se the computer to help learner to get familiar with the character like the IME pinyin input. With this, it will be easier for the learner to get the right pinyin as well as the right character for reading and writing in the future. The Conversationa l Chinese textbook will be learned in this way,the learner will learn 1,000 Chinese characters in 3-4 months.
From July 2004 to February 2005 , with 1,000 basic Chinese characters,th e learner will start learning the Business Negotiation ABC textbook. He will be able to learn 3,000 Chinese characters in 6 months
From March to June 2005 with 3,000 Chinese characters, he will be able to read the daily news in Chinese and write simple Chinese articles. The teacher will provide him with more selected reading materials.
W atch the classic Chinese movies and TV with English and Chinese subtitles to know the Chinese culture more and practise listening, and reading more.
Also login the most famous Chinese BBS in general and in specific field. Read the articles there as many as possible and write little. Then write replies to get the sense of writing Chinese. Then write own posts in Chinese.
By June of 2005, he will be able to conduct business all in Chinese. But I think I would rather have another six month just in case unexpected things come.
