1) Classes (in person or via Skype): Teaching Approach & Program Description
When I teach Italian I try to concentrate both on grammar and vocabulary, and enjoying our lessons teaching you something about our culture.
Dur ing my classes you will find explanations of the basic structures of Italian grammar, as well as many exercises through which you can practice what you have learned. Following the excellent advice of some of my students, I will also be including several interactive exercises for you to complete and receive immediate feedback on.
We will discuss about Italian life, habits, food, songs, we will read newspaper articles, listen to music and sing (!?), and comment on figurative or descriptive texts on the topics of art, culture, politics and society. A lexical expansion of the topics of conversation takes place, so the language student can understand in different situations and express him/herself in a better way.
By means of communication the language students become familiar with the Italian language, pronunciation and correct intonation.
Classes can take place in the most convenient place (usually a bar or library...)
We can have classes during your stay in Florence (long or short) or via Skype. I'm also using really good text books available both in Europe and in America or on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Fnac.com, Fnac.fr...).
Classes are available for groups or individuals and from 5 to 99 years old. I can also help you or your family to organize your trip in Italy.
2) Itinerary-cla sses:
Working in schools for foreigners, I realized that learning Italian where it is really spoken and where Italians are living, is much more motivating and inspiring. If you can learn in a friendly and informal ambience, in direct contact with the everyday life, you can easily overcome the psychological barrier of speaking a foreign language and you can enjoy and learn at the same time.
My itinerary are designed for those who want to learn Italian (and how to survive here!) and deepen their knowledge of the language.
It ineraries are flexible, depending on your specific needs/interes ts:
Do you want to understand what is "an aperitivo", an "etto crudo" or you want to learn expressions and vocabulary needed to make purchases at the market? Do you need to discover/tast e the best ice cream in the city, how to order "una coppetta di gelato" or the difference between "caffé macchiato caldo" and "caffé corretto"? Do you want to learn Italian just walking in the city center/in a garden/in a library?
I can guide you as you discover how Italians shop at the market, how they spend their time outdoors, how they enjoy themselves at the table and, at the same time, you can learn useful expressions.
3)Crash course on holidays:
Do you want to visit Sicily, Veneto Region, Toscana, Marche Region, Puglia, Capri........ ........? Do you want to see some non-touristy small town where only Italian is spoken?
I can help you to organize every part of your travel, (accommodatio n/tours etc...), I can come with you and we can have Italian lessons during the day, so the teaching hours can be integrated with very interesting walks to the local street markets, medieval town, small local museums.....

About me:
I'm Italian and I'm a qualified Italian teacher (Ditals Certificate, University of Siena). I work in a school for foreigners and as a private (in person and via skype) teacher in Florence.
I have a Masters degree Philosophy and Italian and a languages high qualification (English, French, Italian).
I took my first degree at the University of Padova but I finished my studies in Paris and Nice where i worked for a cultural center, as Italian teacher, research assistant and tour guide.
I moved to Florence five years ago, because I love this city. Here I worked as a researcher (University of Florence), student advisor and Italian, History and Philosophy teacher.
I also worked in Finland as Italian teacher for few months.
Why teaching?
A very exciting thing for me in the last 8 years has been sharing my knowledge with my students: it's fantastic and I’ve found that teaching Italian to foreigners has helped me to appreciate much more my own language and culture.
