I am learning Russian because my husband is a native Russian speaker (though a Georgian national), and I want to be able to speak more comfortably with his family. We are also hoping to raise our children bilingually in Russian and English.
I would rate my language ability as a 1+ on the Defense Institute scale, so early intermediate.
My grammar is not absolutely terrible, but I do struggle with cases. My conversation isn't horrible, my reading is good for my level, and my writing is atrocious.
This summer, I plan to dedicate 4-5 hours/day.
I'm looking for a fun, engaging teacher who pushes me to use more varied grammatical aspects and vocabulary. I'm also looking for someone with training in linguistics, since my B.A. is in Linguistics, and my Master's is in English Education. Having a teacher with a linguistics background helps make grammatical explanations much simpler for everyone.
